Ascending Slavnik for a stunning view
This moderately demanding trail with a light ascent (suitable for families) will require just under 3 hours of walking from the starting point in Podgorje, where you can park your car. Along the way, you will be accompanied by mountain flowers in spring: peonies, irises, pale yellow louseworts, Carniolan lilys, etc. At the top, you will be met by a view of the peaks of the Kamnik, Julian, and Carnic Alps, and the Dolomites, as well as the peaks of Čičarija, Učka, and Snežnik. The view below will extend to Brkini, Čičarija, the karst plateau, the Šavrinsko Hills, and the Adriatic Sea.

This moderately demanding route, which is also suitable for families, will take you along cart paths and trails, as well as hardened karst ground. On the way, you will be accompanied by many attractions: the Great Osap wall with the Grad cave and the source of the Osap River, Socerb Castle, the Sveta cave, the rocky Kraški rob landscape, the remains of the fort above Črni Kal, Benkova house and the church of St. Valentine with a slanting bell tower in Črni Kal, Stara Gabrovica, and the Mišja peč sinkhole.

This moderately demanding trail, which is not the most suitable for families or inexperienced hikers, starts at the car park in front of the Istranova restaurant in the village of Padna. You will explore Padna, Nova vas, and the Drnica valley. During the journey, you will noticed two of the most famous sights: the Church of Holy God’s Mother of Rosary from 1470, and the 26-metre-high bell tower with a statue of St. Joseph from 1896.
