The freshness of Istrian gastronomy

Gastronomy is an important part of the story of any region, which is why at the San Simon Resort we also pay very special attention to it. Due to its proximity to the hinterland, Izola offers an excellent combination of Istrian and seafood cuisine. We also adhere to the Kilometre Zero concept, by which we are committed to using as many ingredients as possible from the immediate surrounding area.

A chef with international experience

Our resort chef Hajrudin Karajkovič has many years of international experience, which is why our daily menus include both local and international dishes.

Istrian dinners

At the San Simon Resort, we organise weekly "Istrian dinners" where we serve typical Istrian dishes, mainly based around fish, seafood, and dishes prepared with produce from local gardens, as well as selected local wines.

Local products and fresh ingredients

The gastronomy of Slovenian Istria is primarily based on simple-to-prepare dishes made from locally grown seasonal ingredients. This ensures freshness and rich flavours throughout the year, so it is no surprise that Istrian cuisine is among the healthiest in the wider coastal region.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with our unique Istriana dessert, which consists of fennel-infused almond mousse, fig jam, a layer of roasted pine nuts with rosemary, gluten-free carob sponge, and natural white chocolate glaze. You can also choose other seasonal desserts also made with many local ingredients.

Kilometre Zero

Local gastronomy providers in Izola are part of the Kilometre Zero initiative, which stands for providing authentic dishes from local, fresh, healthy ingredients, prepared according to traditional recipes. This is a concept we also diligently follow at the San Simon Resort.
